abstract = "Initially, in the 70s, the altimetry satellites work only with the
determination of the topography and the surface of the oceans.
However, due to its global coverage, was initiated measurements of
surface continental waters and currently the altimetry
measurements are also obtained for rivers of the Amazon basin,
whose hydrologic information is difficult to obtain due to the
inaccessibility of the region, either by poor distribution of
gauged stations or the slow dissemination of data. Thus, altimetry
satellites are an alternative to the monitoring of height
variations of water blade in continental hydrosystems. In this
work the external validation (corresponding to altimetry
measurements of satellite water levels SARAL with data obtained in
gauged stations in rivers Solim{\~o}es and Amazon) was performed
to rivers of the Amazon basin through the standard deviation
calculation. The validation results for SARAL satellite between
traits in crossing points, standard deviation values are from 0,16
                         to 1,19 m rivers whose widths ranging between 40 m to 600 m.",
